According to TNIE reports, the Ballari zoo in Karnataka has come up with a unique programme to control the population of leopards in the zoo. They have reportedly decided to keep the male and female leopards in separate places. Leopards that are already sheltered in the zoo were mostly brought by villagers and wildlife enthusiasts who rescued them from various cases like injury. Since the zoo authorities are already in need of funds to feed the existing leopards, they have reportedly decided to implement the programme.
