Tamil Nadu minister Nilofer Kafeel has reportedly said that all the ministers including herself visited Apollo and watched former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa getting treatment. Kafeel also reportedly said she met Jayalalithaa when the former AIADMK chief was shifted to 2nd ward from Intensive Care Unit. The AIADMK ministers have been giving confronting information on whether they saw Jayalalithaa during her treatment in Apollo Hospital.

Actor S Ve Shekher on Tuesday took to Twitter to troll Tamil Nadu forests minister Dindigul Sreenivasan. Natarajan’s health condition worsens

Reports say that the health condition of AIADMK leader VK Sasikala’s husband M Natarajan “remains critical”. The hospital, where he has been admitted, has reportedly issued a bulletin saying, “Currently he is admitted to the liver intensive care unit with worsening liver failure, kidney failure and lung congestion. His condition remains critical”. The 74-year-old, who has been undergoing treatment for the past nine months for liver failure, has reportedly been advised a combined kidney and liver transplant.

97-year-old Raj Kumar Vaishya from Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly cleared his MA (Economics) degree from the Nalanda Open University on Sunday. Vaishya said that he would now concentrate on writing articles on socio-economic issues, mainly those related to poverty and unemployment. Vaishya completed BA examination in 1938 and appeared at the examinations like any other student at the venue on the University premises.

People can use biometrics to enter airport

The government is reportedly planning to completely paperless aircraft boarding process by using biometric access. Aviation secretary R N Choubey reportedly said that they are linking the databases of airlines and airports with passenger IDs such as Aadhaar and passport numbers so that passengers will be able to use biometrics to prove identity before entering terminals and will not have to show ID cards.

Couple detained over suspicion of eating 30 people

According to reports, Russian authorities arrested a couple on suspicion that they have murdered and eaten at least 30 people. Police reportedly found over half-a-dozen body parts, canned flesh, body parts in saline solution, frozen human meat, and 'recipes' for cooking a human inside the couple's apartment building. The couple reportedly confessed to being involved in preying on, kidnapping, killing and eating at least 30 victims since 1999.

4,820 special buses to be operated on Diwali

Tamil Nadu transport minister MR Vijaya Bhaskar has reportedly said that 4,820 special buses will be operated from Chennai for Diwali. He also reportedly said that the buses will ply from 5 bus terminals in Chennai from October 15 to October 17. So far, 32,204 passengers have booked tickets online, say reports. Further, the buses will be operated from Koyambedu, Anna Nagar, Tambaram Sanatorium, KK Nagar and Poonamallee.

Tamil Nadu: Varsity professor stabbed multiple times

According to reports, a professor from Madurai Kamaraj University has reportedly been stabbed multiple times by a guest lecturer on Tuesday. The victim, Jenefa, has been admitted to hospital and is undergoing treatment. Jenefa, the head of the department of journalism and science communication in the university, suffered serious injuries. The guest lecturer, Jothimurugan, has reportedly been arrested by police. Police are reportedly investigating the matter.

Tamil Nadu: 100 superspeciality medical seats to fall vacant

Since the Supreme Court has declined to extend the September 14 deadline for admission, nearly 100 superspeciality seats in state-run medical colleges of Tamil Nadu will remain vacant in 2017, says a report by the Times of India. The report said, 53 seats fall vacant in Madras Medical College, 14 in Kilpauk Medical College, 11in Stanley Medical College, nine in Madurai Medical College, five in Thanjavur Medical College, six in Tirunelveli Medical College and one in Chengalpet Medical College.

Firm fakes details, hikes NH47 project cost by Rs 700 cr

According to reports, a private firm hired by NHAI faked details for an NH47 road project and hiked the project cost by at least Rs 700 crore.The company was reportedly hired to submit a feasibility report on upgrading the stretch between Thiruvananthapuram and Kanyakumari. The firm, however, reportedly faked details to propose a new 70km four-lane stretch. The new proposal allegedly took the project cost to Rs 1,200 crore from the original estimate of Rs 480 crore to Rs 500 crore. Allegedly, the firm’s proposal will benefit a large infrastructure company.

Dengue Warning: two dead in Chennai

Officials of State Health Department reportedly confirmed two dengue deaths in Chennai within 48 hours. Reports also added that over 900 have been hospitalised with high fever with 40 confirmed of the dengue virus.
