17-year-old kills self because of harassment by teachers near Chennai

A student of class XI killed himself on Friday in Kodungaiyur. Reportedly the police recovered a suicide note which mentioned that the boy was allegedly harassed by teachers in school for his poor performance in studies. A case has been registered for probing the case in Kodungaiyur police station. Reports state that there was a protest held outside the school demanding action against the teachers.

19-year-old with down syndrome becomes police for a day in Chennai

According to media reports, Stevin Mathew a 19-year-old boy who has down syndrome from Qatar was always fascinated by police and always wanted to become a police officer. He wrote a letter to the Chennai commissioner of Police when he was on vacation in Chennai. Reportedly the Ashok Nagar police station stitched a uniform for Stevin and took him around in the police jeep. Stevin also attended few calls and used the walkie talky. Mathew's father stated that he was happy that the Chennai police helped his son's dream come true.

60 passengers escape bus accident in TN

The bus that carried 60 passengers from Tirupur to Gudalur met with an accident in Manthada. Reportedly the bus while overtaking tried to avoid hitting a lorry, left the road and fell into a 200 feet valley. No passengers were injured, and a case has been filed against the driver for rash driving.

A 27-year-old policeman who recently joined the 13th battalion of TamilNadu special police recently was arrested for misbehaving with a woman. Reportedly he went to Kasimedu to visit his relatives were he misbehaved with a married woman. Initially, she warned him but later lodged a complaint and then he was arrested.

Stalker stabs 21-year-old woman in broad day light in T Nagar

A stalker stabbed a 21-year-old woman who was his neighbour, on Wednesday afternoon in T.Nagar's Burkit road. Satyanarayanan, a 34-year-old a roadside vendor in the streets of Parry's, killed the woman who was on her way to her institution. Reportedly, he had been asking her to marry him and when she denied he stabbed her neck and face multiple times. He was caught by the police in two hours after the attack and presented in court and is under custody now. The woman was admitted to the hospital and the doctor alleged that her condition is stable.

High court directs university in favour of transgender name change

Madras High Court on Thursday issued orders to Anna University and Madras University asking the controller of examinations to change the name in the certificates of a student who underwent a sex change surgery. Reportedly, the medical records proved that the person is a fully fledged male after required  investigations physically and psychologically. The person changed his name and gender in the government gazette, PAN, Passport, and Aadhaar but could not change it in his educational certificate until the court gave orders.

People protest against TASMAC shop in Selaiyur

People protested against the opening of TASMAC on Thursday in Selaiyur. Reportedly, they picked up an argument with the police that the liquor shop is located near farmland and feared that it would damage and pollute the water in the area used for irrigation. The protesters alleged that even after repeated petitions to the government, no actions were taken.

Pattabiram Bridge still under preparation

The project to build a bridge in Pattabiram, Chennai-Thiruvallur high road over the level crossing is still under preparation while the sanction was obtained in 2011. Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany reportedly found that girls overall performance overshadow that of boys, however, boys seemed to perform better than girls in mathematics and science. Bengaluru receives highest rainfall in over a decade

With Koramangala getting the worst hit, rainfall in Bengaluru has touched new record last night, being highest rainfall in over a decade. Bengaluru recorded heavy rainfall of 14.4 cm in the last 24 hours, reports suggest.  According to reports, places including Koramangala, HSR Layout, Shantinagar, Wilson Garden, K R Puram, Anugraha Layout, Ulsoor, Vivek Nagar, Murugesh Palya and Gurappana Palya on Bannerghatta Road, have been flooded with almost knee-level water on the streets.

Metro slashes up to 50% on Independence Day

Chennai based finance company raises 50 million$

A Chennai based financial company ‘Five star’ which acts as a loan provider to small and medium enterprises in and around TamiNadu raised Rs. 333 crore as a part of it equity funding. Sequoia Capital India and US-based Norwest Venture Partners invested Rs. 135 crore each for 10% stake of the Rs 1300 crore company.
